My wife and I generally don't go to buffets but there were a lot of people inside so we figured we'd give it a whirl. If you have the same inclination I have one word for you. Don't.The people inside were all Asian tourists that a tour bus had dropped off there for their 'lunch included' meal. There was only one other table with paying patrons other than us.Where do I begin? There were no bowls available for soup. The cutlery was dirty. Half of the hot table items were empty. Virtually every item is fried. The 'mixed vegetables' was onions and cabbage. There was ice cream but no bowls to put it in and no teaspoons to eat it with (I scooped some into a coffee cup and ate it with a soup spoon). While seating us the hostess was screaming at another staff member. After being seated we asked for water and got a tepid, dirty glass of tap water. We never saw a waitress or server after being seated. When we complained that half the dishes were missing we were told to wait - there would be more eventually (we'd been there 40 minutes already and with no other customers I doubt there was food coming). This is the worst restaurant I've been to in Victoria - possibly anywhere in North America. About the only good thing I could say is that there was ample parking.
Formerly Crystal Jade Restaurant, it appears to be the same people running this establishment under a new name. We dined here after the name change hoping for major improvements in the quality of food, but was very disappointed. If not for the ample bus parking bringing in unsuspecting tourists, this restaurant would not exist. There are far "superior" Chinese restaurant choices in Victoria. We will not be back!
I have passed by this restaurant many times while driving in and out of Victoria. My wife and I usually avoid buffets, but we decided to try it out since it was crowded with people. However, I strongly advise against it. The majority of the customers were Asian tourists who had been dropped off by a tour bus for a lunch included in their package. There were only a few other paying patrons besides us. The experience was disappointing from the start - there were no bowls for soup, the cutlery was dirty, and half of the hot food items were missing. Most of the dishes were fried, and the "mixed vegetables" turned out to be just onions and cabbage. There was ice cream available, but no bowls or teaspoons to eat it with. The hostess was yelling at another staff member when seating us, and we were served tepid tap water in a dirty glass. We never saw a server after getting seated, and when we complained about the missing dishes, we were told to wait for more food to arrive (which never did). This restaurant is by far the worst I have been to in Victoria, and possibly in all of North America. The only positive thing I can mention is that there was plenty of parking available.
Unexpectedly decided to try this restaurant while on a short trip with friends! Great views, great service, great food. Best tuna I have ever had and I
The restaurant boasts beautiful views, charming decor, and even offers free parking!
