The crust was delightful—crispy and flaky without being overly oily. However, I was a bit disappointed with the fillings. The beef filling was bland and overly moist, which made it mushy; it may have even been undercooked. The chorizo empanada, on the other hand, was well-seasoned and held up better than the beef. The ham and cheese one didn’t excite me either; while I could tell the ham and cheese were of good quality, it really needed more seasoning. The chimichurri sauce was quite oily, which made it difficult to enjoy, although it did have a nice flavor. Overall, I’d be interested in giving this place another shot. For now, my experience was just okay, but since it's one of the few empanada spots in Sacramento, I would consider coming back if I get another craving.
I have visited this restaurant three times over the past four months during their stated hours of operation, but each time it was closed despite their website indicating otherwise. When I attempted to call, the number directed me back to the website, which is incorrect. I am really disappointed and won’t be trying again, as it feels like a waste of my time.
My daughter, granddaughter and I went to the farmer's market at Mahany Park last Sunday and I ordered 3 chicken and 3 beef empanadas from Che's food truck. They were piping hot and delicious! I am ready to go back again this week!
This place is awesome. The owner is a wonderful person who cares about his community. Food was fantastic! Beef and chorizo empanadas.....yummmmm!
