Gǔ Tāng Wēn Quán Oncri/おんくり

This is a good hotel, very classic and spacious. Hot Spring is open space, and have massage chair in the changing room, breakfast is Japanese style and delicious.

The hotel is right in front of a lush forest river. The combination is simply therapeutic to the soul. The vast expanse of nature is welcoming. Service was wonderful everything in the hotel. The rooms were clean spacious. The tatamis was set up for sleep while we were having dinner kept in the morning during breakfast. The onsen was definitely a fun place to go to with family members or friends. I had a very wonderful experience at the hotel.

Food was better than I expected for its taste and volume, items, dishes’ quality. We enjoyed 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. Photos are the second evening dinner and two days breakfast. As we stayed 2 nights, they changed each meals contents. Taste all good. The room was better than we expected though the safe box was not fixed to a wall or a floor. One thing I was impressed was a wonderful reaction of a receptionist that as soon as she had been told that our room wasn’t cleaned up when we came back there after a day walk, she came to our room instantly and cleaned it up in a moment, and she didn’t show us any complaints for an employee in charge of cleaning. Temperature of the spa was adequate. The Room bath was good. Why not 5 star? 3 plus 1. Excellent!!

Beautiful location on the slope of a low tree filled mountain pass. Easy access from Fukuoka in an hour by car or limited express to San station where they provide a free shuttle. Great service at check in, they even remembered my daughter's food allergy from a previous visit. Room was on the front with big windows with view of the mountains, windows open letting in the air and the sound of the river running through the pass. Excellent hot springs baths and not crowded. Outside baths are a few degrees less than the normal 40C/108F to allow longer soaking. Dinner was creative you can choose traditional Japanese or Italian(! . We had Japanese which had excellent presentation and quality but the creativity didn't add much (powdered olive oil and lemon salt sand art didn't improve the sashimi course. Large high quality breakfast in a restaurant also with a nice view. For lovers of Japanese breakfast the buffet was great, but the Western selections we're limited.
