We stayed there 2 weeks ago and enjoyed every moment. Relax atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. And upon all fantastic food.
Everything you dream of in the morning and more. Sit outside in the sun when the wind is not too heavy or sit inside in the nice restaurant. Get your eggs just the way you want them and have a range of fresh fruits and juices as well as all kind of homemade food.
We were staying in the pousada in Tavira and really enjoyed it. On visiting Sagres for the day and thought we would check out the Pousada there to see if we might stay another time. And anyway we thought it would be a great place to have lunch and/or a coffee After 5 minutes wait a lady arrived at reception and seemed to think we wanted to check in. When we said we only wanted lunch she rather abruptul told us that they couldn't do lunch as they had a group and were busy. We had seen a small part of about a dozen people but were rather surprised a hotel of this size in the off season with an almost empty car park couldn't offer lunch. The offer of a coffee or anything would have been nice but after such an unhelpful reaction we decided to find somewhere else for lunch. To add insult to injury when I tried to post a review on the hotel site about the lunch (as others who only had lunch have done). We then had our review rejected. Every hotel can give poor service some days. But this hotel seems to want to hide the fact and avoid an apology. Disappointed in every way!
Impressive menu on paper, but was told the only entrees available that evening were codfish or beef. I ordered the beef. Small portion, rather tough meat, and no kind of bargain. I filled out a complaint with the waiter (who was nice, helpful, and I think felt bad and also complained to the front desk, who said they sometimes have shortages because Sagres is remote. (Also this was not prime season. But if availability is that unreliable, use a chalkboard, not a menu. If you want to eat here, call ahead and make sure they're offering the full menu. Tile-work in the dining room is nice but decor overall is unimpressive. The location is great, so it's a nice place for drinks. Then eat somewhere else.
