I ordered the com suon nuong, which came with bi, tohu ki, and thit chan for $17. Unfortunately, the suon nuong was not well-marinated and lacked seasoning. The tohu ki was decent, but the thit chan was quite bland. The bi was acceptable. Overall, the meal was just okay. I also ordered a hot tea, which the menu indicated would be served in a pot, but instead, I received a watered-down cup of tea for $1.
The seating and service were prompt. The portions were generous for the orders placed. However, the flavors could be improved, as both dishes needed a sauce to enhance the taste. The background music from the TV was quite loud. You'll definitely leave with leftovers!
My mom decided to order the vegetarian rolls as an appetizer, adding an egg for an extra charge. She appreciated the crispiness and flavor, remarking that there was a floury texture that could possibly be mung bean starch. I ordered the fresh rice rolls special combo #93, which included steamed rice flour rolls filled with ground pork and mushrooms, pork roll, fried pork roll, raw fermented beef, and mung bean bread. To my surprise, about 50% of the dish consisted of bean sprouts, even more than what you typically find served on the side with pho. My mom loves bean sprouts, but even she felt this was excessive. The fried mung bean bread was the most intriguing item on the plate, although the outside was somewhat burnt. The rectangular piece of raw beef, measuring roughly 2 × 1 × 0.5 inches, was quite good. The slices of pork roll were a bit mushy but had a faintly sweet flavor typical of cured meats, mainly ham. Unfortunately, there were only two rice noodle rolls containing the ground pork and mushroom mixture, while the rest of the plate was filled with plain flat sheets of rice flour noodles.
This review is way past due. I've been coming here for many years. But just last time I was here about 2 months ago. The place looks very dirty, food on the floor. The table where I sat had food that was unable to be removed the girl cleaning it had to flick it with her nail. I tried to give it the benefit of doubt since I liked their food. However as we waiting for our food small cockroaches from the wall started crawling up next to us. That was it for me. I had to walk out. As I did I told the guy at the register and he just didn't seem to care. I can only imagine how the kitchen is. This place used to be better. Wish maybe Health inspectors would be more strict and not just give out licenses like nothing.
Love this spot. Hidden gem for sure. So many dishes to choose from but you can't go wrong with their beef pho. Good broth and lots of meat options to add. My favorite thing on their menu has to be their bbq pork spring rolls. Honestly THE BEST. It's filled with meat, different veggies/herbs, a crunchy stick and has a really good spicy peanut sauce. I come here just for the spring rolls. Highly recommend!
