The fruit was fresh and ripe and definitely placed on my waffle with intent rather than thrown up there. The waffle itself had a nice jug on the outside with a chewing center. They can definitely taste the difference in the dough as they use the bead sugar, which is an authentic Belgian waffle butter cooked in a waffle iron compared to a pancake batter. The interior is tiny, but there are also some tables outside so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. I don't regret getting a milkshake this time, but I'll be right back, of course.
The staff was very nice and the food was very delicious! The portion size for the waffle with apples and ice was larger than expected, so I was pleasantly surprised. I also got the chocolate Brownie milkshake, which was very delicious, and the brownie tasted like real homemade brownies. My friend didn't like how thick it was, but I didn't mind. The ambience and the furnishings were also very beautiful.
McLean did this!!! OMG! It's so good. It's called Whirlybird. It is my first time to eat Belgian waffles and it is an amazing first experience. He kills it tonight. Long line of people all of themselves. Love love love what he did. It is a perfect blend of the taste of Cinnamon Apples, Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Drizzle and Bourbon Whipped Cream on the top of Belgian waffles.
Cousteaus wafer and milkshake bar is one of my favorite spots in the historic downtown of St. Augustine. I've been to this place for years. We have Stevesie Milkshake, who was the best Keksteig milkshake I've ever had. We had the Unpaid Intern wafer and it was really good. Their waffles are always so fresh and have a good density and naturally wonderful taste. Oh and her whipped cream on everything is definitely made in the house, which simply brings all her desserts to another level.
Absolutely Cousteau's. Hand-spun milkshakes. The Deep Search is a chocolate milkshake with homemade brownie crumbles and chocolate sauce. They call it the chocolate triple threat. The Plimpton is a Belgian Waffle topped with fresh blueberry compote, whipped cream, and local honey. The Jacques Cousteau photos and decor are really interesting. Highly recommend Cousteau's Waffle and Milkshake Bar.
