After making a surprise arrival for our friend 's birthday in the morning, we went to the restaurant for dinner on Saturday night. We never expected to have such a wonderful meal so close to their home we walked there! Everything was perfect! The welcome was great. The restaurant had a nice small town ambiance and we had a large table for 9 adults and 2 children. Even though the restaurant was full, Didier and his wife, Illiana, were very attentive. We all ordered the menu for 19.5 Euro entree, plat, avec fromage (sec ou blanc) ou/or dessert. I ordered gateau de foie de volaille avec truffes et sauce écrevisse for a starter and it was wonderful! Didier also brought us a sample of his escargot in a red wine sauce with mushrooms which was fantastic! It was the first time the wife of our french friend tasted escargots (which surprised us) and she really liked them, too! For the plat principal, I ordered the cannellonis de poisson, epinards et chorizo which was also very good. The presentation was very nice with some interesting side dishes My wife ordered Chou Farci (Russe) . It was specially prepared cabbage stuffed with beef inspired by his wife, Illiana. We understand that they met while working in a ski resort in France. Most of our friends had the white cheese with red fruit (framboise et cassis), but my wife and I couldn 't resist having the creme brulee with sureau (elderberry) which was excellent. Finally, Didier also brought us a second dessert which was a cake with chestnuts, moelleux a la chataigne which was delicious. The entire experience was great and we highly recommend this restaurant! Most importantly, everything was homemade and from local produce!
We had lunch in this small restaurant based on trip advisor reviews, the owner is very friendly (but has limited English). Food was excellent, good value and everything was presented very well. He had well thought out meals with a twist and good vegetable and potato dishes to go with the mains. There are a choice of two menus and each one has a couple of starters, mains and desserts. It was a very hot day and the restaurant was very warm, but we really enjoyed our meal and would come back again.
Unforgettable experience! Food was great and plentiful, service was perfect and with very unique and personalised conversations with the waiter who knows
