Outstanding place for enjoying the typical Assiette Montagne, dry ham, saucisson, cheese, salade and delicious fried potato cakes with cumin spice, Served on sun bathing terrace, pleasant and smiling waitress, this family owned restaurant is a must stop place in your discovery of saint jean d'aulds ski resort.Tell your friends to visit and book a table at Le Tavaillon, they will enjoy a wonderfull experience.
This family-run restaurant is open summer and winter, however it's always best to call them before setting off to avoid disappointment (happened to me twice). In the winter you simply ski there when doing the Tour de Roc d'Enfer. In summer it takes a beautiful 1-hour hike or a good off-road car. The super-authentic building is an old cow shed (no worries - it comes without the smells) and oozes charm and coziness. In winter the old wood-fire stove heats the restaurant area. Cloth hangers above it are used to dry whatever needs drying. It's small so if you crave their delicious Fondue Savoyard in the winter you'd better reserve your table. So first of all I'd like to recommend their earlier mentioned cheese fondue. This home-made pan of bubbling cheese is the best I have tasted in the whole region. Add a glass of Crepy wine and life is divine. Make sure to order a side of their Beignets, beautifully crispy fried potato cakes with cumin seed. The terrace is situated in the sun and has a great view. But what really makes this place one of my favorite restaurants ever is the genuinely super friendly service. Their smiles and joy makes my critical customer's heart melt into a lump of yummy Savoyard cheese fondue :)
