She had a lot of expectations. When we entered, no good morning from the small young blond girl behind the cashier. We asked for the Webster’s sandwich, me without gluten and my friend another regular one. When, they ask me to come and get my plate, I could see that the crust was burned and I asked the waitress, same little blind one if this was normal. She answered: Well yes, it’s like that. Very rude tone as if it was my fault. People around were surprised and said nothing. I only said: I was just asking if this was normal. When we left, my friend asked if she could package the salad she didn’t eat. She said: Nobody has ever asked me to do that, I don’t know if I can do it. She was extremely rude and not helpful. I will never go back again and I will not recommend it even if the food can be amazing.
Open only six weeks, this little shop has intrigued me since it started running ads in the city paper. I finally got a chance to stop in last week to find out what it was all about. Labeled a café and juice bar, le Webster delivers exactly as promised. They specialize in fresh pressed juices, from orange to several special cocktails , which they will gladly let you sample to peak your interest and tantalize your tastebuds. They also claim to have the best coffee on the South Shore, which I cannot attest to, but will return eventually to confirm its truth. I did, however, enjoy a rather delicious moroccan carrot soup, flavored with peanut butter, coconut milk and mint, as well as the Bagna Cauda tuna salad sandwich, with homemade anchovy mayonnaise, which was bursting with flavor. I cannot complain for the food, as everything was well seasoned, well combined, the 9 grain bread toasted to perfection, being crisp and tender all at once. I will however, complain about the size of the meal I received in contrast to the price I paid for it. The portion of soup was average, and I realize that the cuisine here is labeled organic, but a carrot is a cheap vegetable, and coconut milk does not cost a lot, either. To sell a soup for 5.95 is a bit over priced, and to sell the same soup in a 1 litre format, to take home, for 15.95, is a little ridiculous. On the same subject, the sandwich was tiny, looking to have been made from the very end of the loaf of bread, the slices were so small, and the accompanying vegetable straws, numbered 9. The sandwich was dwarfed by its serving plate lined with newsprint waxed paper, as well as its 8 dollar price tag. On the bright side, the place is brand new and gorgeously decorated inside, with inspiration being drawn from both the natural and the industrial. The cute enamel cups used for serving are also available for sale, along with teas, coffees and water bottle used in the cafe. Mix in the groovy Bob Marley tunes drifting through the tiny dining area, and you get a pretty relaxed vibe for drinking your coffee in the morning. I recommend you give the place a try sample some juices, check out the gluten free pastries and vegan meals on offer for take away(all made by other companies, mind you), and make your own conclusions. Personally, I have a tough time paying such a premium to eat organic.
New, small coffee shop in the Village (where the great chocolate shop was until just recently . Offers healthy juices made on site, prepared food, coffees teas a selection of third party health and bio products on shelves. Didn 't eat, was just there for coffee in the morning. Happy to have discovered this new place. An alternative to going to the other more popular coffee places... Although small (seats maybe 20 !? , great place to chit chat, read, work, use as meeting place. Clearly adds to the Fun de vivre à Saint Lambert ;
Ordered a vanilla ice coffee which tasted very bitter so I asked if they even added vanilla which they said they put 2 pumps, Cashier was nice and said she would add more vanilla, Barista made a issue saying he had already put vanilla… like bro I’m not trying to argue over a coffee, The owner should really change the brand of the syrup he used cause even after adding more vanilla it still tasted the same lol however nice little coffee shop, the white chocolate pasty I took was good, My experience could have been a lot better if they didn’t make a huge deal of me asking why it doesn’t taste like vanilla.
Great little take out coffee shop with delicious daily baked goods, gotta try the “champignon” muffins.
