Le Glacier de la Vis

We're here for lunch. After we sit, we ordered drinks and took some time to enjoy the menu. Nothing on the menu was suitable for us Veggies and we asked in the best French we could have sampled... four of the great looking salad bowls and frits we had seen are served to other customers. No, the answer came. We could only order exactly what was on the menu. So we decided to order ice creams for the children, which proved to be more difficult than it should. Once we had them, we were asked to go because we didn't eat.... after being said they wouldn't serve us. So we left with two hungry children and a sense of confusion. We were grateful for the water sprays they had mounted in the beams above our heads, but that was the only redeeming factor for us, sad. Especially when the food looked very good. That said the coffee wasn't great and the ice creams were very average.

This was probably the worst experience we had in over twenty years of vacation in France. Maybe it was just the incredibly rude waiter we met or it could be a wider problem, but no potential customers should have been treated just like we were. We assume that the treatment we received was because we went and sat on a free table after we waited five minutes to take place. We waited for at least twenty minutes while the waiter went to any other table, but resolutely ignored us. We then decided to go to the bar to order something and have said to go back to our table, whereupon the waiter who had told us to sit, continued to ignore us. After thirty minutes we gave up together and went somewhere else. We were totally confiscated by this ridiculous treatment, we didn't complain, we were not rude and we weren't loud. We love to come to France, our French is not brilliant, but we always speak in French and do not accept that someone will speak English. This was the only case of bad service we had in an idyllic three week break in the Cevennes, but if you find yourself in the cascades, do yourself a favor and go to the fantastic pizza place that were wonderful.

We visited here for 6 years and every time Alex and his friends found very friendly and helpful. A brilliant bar that is always excellent hosts with some surprising and pleasant offer of food and drink. If you're in the area, you have to visit. One of our favorite places we've ever visited.

We love coming to France, our french isn't brilliant but we always speak in French and don't assume that anyone will speak English. We've been visiting here for the last 6 years and every time have found Alex and his friends extremely welcoming and helpful.A brilliant bar who are always excellent hosts with some surprising and enjoyable range of food and drink. If you're in the area, you MUST visit. One of our favourite places we've ever visited.
