Tocqueville - Saint-Lô

We had high hopes, having stayed in a Mercure before and finding the restaurant excellent. This place was OK, but there was noting exceptional about it. We were hoping for inspiring dishes for diner, a taste of local cuisine. We found both at a brasserie across the square. Went back for breakfast (included with the room) next door. This, too, was fine but uninspiring. Interesting modernist deor. Friendly waitstaff. All fine. We just expected more.

Last minute reservation for a meeting anniversary. The table was decorated with red rose petals, the word LOVE in golden metal on the table and candles. Great. The meal was very good and great well presented. Very welcoming and pleasant staff. We recommend no worries.

Très bon accueil, chaleureux. Salle très propre et bien décorée. Serveuses, réceptionniste en aux petits soins. Viande et poisson exceptionnels et superbement bien cuit. Tous nos plats étaient très bons. Bravo au cuisinier qui vient même nous dire un bonjour en salle. Restaurant à recommander pour tous. Mérite le détour et pas seulement réservé à la clientèle de l'hôtel Mercure...
