Plenty of shaded outside seating on a terrace between the road and the river. Good place to try local cheese specialities, truffade very good cheesy potato dish), and starter of pears, cheese and ham gratin really delicious. Portions are all huge, jarret de porc...plenty of meat for 2 people. Salads large and varied. Staff friendly and service reasonably speedy. Good value for money. Our preferred place to eat in this town. Best to book if you want to garantee an outside table.
I don't have an answer for you because we only took the fondue! But I was pondering it for a while. It was a large chunk of Saint Nectaire cheese and the potatoes that went with it were well done. Very tasty, but also heavy...for lunch, if you're someone not accustomed to so much cheese. Partner had the duck salad which was a good choice if you're not keen to have something too heavy.
Understandably popular restaurant in the lower part of the town just below the tourist office. It has outside seating way from the road under the trees. The extensive menu offers a wide variety of dishes to suit most tastes and appetites. Many are variations on...regional dishes but offer a welcome change from the standard fare offered by many local restaurants. Smaller portions are available for some dishes. The food was of a high standard and the ice cream desserts are appealingly enormous. Service was generally friendly efficient and on a busy Sunday lunch time even the very young daughters of the owners were lending a hand. Overall well worth a visit. There is a related food shop opposite which sells a range of regional produce.
