Pia's Trattoria Pasta Panini Cafe

This is the best Italian food we've ever experienced. The service and wine were excellent too! Be sure to try the lasagna or the eggplant!

We dined at the restaurant to the left of their main building, so I'm unsure about the atmosphere at the main location. The food was outstanding; I had the veal parmigiana while my wife opted for the veal Marcella. However, it's worth noting that neither dish came with a salad, just three asparagus stems. When I requested some bread, I was surprised to be charged an additional $6 for half a loaf. My wife also asked for a small dish of red sauce, which cost another $3. Our entrée prices were $35 each, and with the tip, our total came to $111. While I don't mind spending that amount on a meal, the ambiance didn't match the price point. We were seated at a small wooden table with hard wooden chairs, which felt quite basic. Honestly, it seemed like the kind of furniture I could find used for around $100. The other inside tables were just as simple, and the alternative seating was outside at umbrella tables. In my opinion, the overall setting and the extra charges felt unprofessional given the prices they charge.

Now, let's talk about the bread! I wasn’t expecting it to be such a standout. It was soft and incredibly flavorful, making it well worth the extra cost for adding two loaves to our table. Honestly, I might return just for the bread alone. We were a party of ten, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. We ordered a range of appetizers, and there were no complaints; everyone enjoyed their meals. The four-cheese pasta was a standout, with three people in our group choosing it. I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola, which I loved, but I would consider trying the mussels next time. Fortunately, my brother ordered them and shared a taste with me—the aroma was amazing, and the flavor matched it beautifully. I really wish I had ordered that! He enjoyed it over homemade pasta, which made it a perfect dish. I highly recommend Pia's for both the quality of food and the wonderful atmosphere.

The bread served with dipping oil was incredibly fresh, and the sauce was a delightful blend of sundried tomatoes, pesto, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, earning a solid 8.6 for this appetizer! The real star of the show, however, was the Pinsa Pizzette. Its phenomenal flavor profile was both light and packed with taste, and the addition of hot honey was a stroke of genius. The crust was truly exceptional, earning this dish an 8.9 rating. Moving on to the entrees, while the Chicken Parmesan was good, it didn't quite reach the heights of the other dishes. The tender chicken and flavorful sauce were highlights, but the in-house-made linguine left something to be desired. Additionally, the inclusion of asparagus felt like an odd choice. Overall, a respectable 7.2 for this dish. What truly elevated the dining experience was the outstanding service and the charming atmosphere. The attentive staff made us feel welcomed, and the live music added a delightful touch to the ambiance. In conclusion, Pia's offers a memorable dining experience with standout dishes that showcase freshness and creativity. I highly recommend stopping in if you live or are visiting the St. Petersburg area!

We came here a while back and had a great experience. They were so accommodating for gluten allergies and our server was so friendly. Our friend got a four cheese gluten free pasta and was reassured that the kitchen takes gluten free allergies seriously, which was really comforting. Her pasta was delicious and she said she would love to come back here. My girlfriend got a pasta that had squid ink in it and she said it was incredible. I got the chicken Marsala, it was a good portion size and was really delicious. For dessert we had a gluten free chocolate cake and we devoured it. We have a hard time finding places with gluten free dessert options so we were really happy to find this place they had 2 or 3 other gluten free dessert options, too! This place is really quaint and nice inside. The lights were dimly lit and there were candles and low lights which made it feel nice and cozy. We loved our meal here and we will be back without a doubt.
