The owner was fun, lots of banter but without detracting from his attention to detail. The number of locals who were there at lunchtime was testament to the quality and pricing of the food.
Whilst visiting friends in the Jura we once again had the opportunity to dine at La Forêt restaurant. Our experience was second to none. We were warmly welcomed by the owner David and we opted to sit in the bar area to take an aperitif before having our dinner in the restaurant. The bar is fairly big, nicely lit and there is also a real log fire in the room which adds to an very cosy and relaxed atmosphere. We then proceeded to go to our table. As there were 9 of us, we had booked the table in the far corner which gives you a little bit more privacy. The restaurant is very clean and well appointed. There is a decent wine list and we were very pleased with our choices (Petit Chablis and a red Burgundy). The menu is quite comprehensive with a section dedicated to local dishes from the Jura. Amongst all of us, it is fair to say that our selections covered most of it. We were all very satisfied with our choices : the beef filets were particularly succulent and tender but so were the fish dishes and everybody was impressed with both the quality of the food as well as the portions. We duly appreciated that such a diverse choice arrived hot and in a timely manner. The service was efficient and very friendly. We will certainly visit La Forêt when next in the Jura area.
We are lucky enough to have a second home in the Jura and this is another of our local restaurants. If for no other reason we would remember it for being vocally assualted by a well lubricated fellow diner who wasn't happy about Brexit and on hearing our accents let us know about it in no uncertain terms. However, there's a lot more reasons to go to this restaurant than the opportunity of a lively political discussion. In my case the steaks. I'm not normally much of a steak man but I make an exception for La Foret. Beautifully cooked and meltingly tender
On s'y sent vraiment bien.
