What a surprise to have a veritable Danish experience in the lovely city of Saint-Raphael ! From Jubilaeums aquavit and Carlsberg beer to frikadeller, herring and gravlax. Kind, warm and welcoming staff -- accommodating and friendly. A true find that anyone with a desire to have something other than French cuisine while on the Cote must try ! Thanks Olsen Butik !

I should begin by saying we had the prix fixé lunch menu and, given that it was an assemblage, it would be difficult to give a score of five stars though it was a very pleasant light lunch of smoked salmon on a Scandinavian bread base with salad of lettuce, fine beans and apple. All was very fresh and sharp on the palate and an ideal light lunch.If we return to St Raphael we may well explore the menu further, fairly certain that it will be a rewarding experience.

After sampling delicious French cuisine in various locations it was a very pleasant surprise to find a completely different style of cooking. If you like smoked salmon, smoked trout, herring and generally healthy Nordic style food then Olsen Butik is definitely the place to go. The welcome is very friendly and they spoke much better English than I spoke French. Ask anything you need about the menu and you will get the meal that suits you. This is a small, friendly restaurant where the food is prepared in front of you. For an alternative to classic French cuisine this is the place to go.
