As we walked through the door, a big sign read "hoodies enter at your own risk" then the OJ was old and tasted like the fridge, the coffee tasted like
The restaurant accommodated our large family group. We sat outside in the square so the children could get up and run around between courses. The food was delicious - I had a fab tuna steak - and there were plenty of pizza-choice for the younger members of our party. It was very busy and service did slow as the evening wore on. However - highly recommended.
We didn't get to eat the food so can't judge the quality but the experience we had in our twenty minutes there was the worst we've ever had. France gets an unfair reputation for bad service and having been visiting for 40 plus years, we've never had any real issues or cause to complain - until now. The manager seemed annoyed from the off. We speak French and always make an effort. Our group of six were shown grumpily to a table on the terrace. As it was a very hot day and we were in direct sun I asked, politely and in French, if it was possible to rearrange the umbrellas to create more shade. The reaction was something you might expect if you'd spat on someone's floor. The manager first asked, rudely, why don't we sit inside and then made a big, aggressive display of shoving umbrellas about. I didn't realise at the time he had shoved my mum who is approaching 80, roughly in the back as he did it. We should have left at that point but our young kids were hungry and in high summer, finding a table somewhere else would have been difficult. We seethed, but waited. And waited. From our arrival we must have been sat for 25 minutes then we gave up and left. A French family behind us also seemed ready to give up. The restaurant was busy but not full and there were several staff members seemingly not doing too much. I can't explain the actions of the manager but having read some French reviewer's reviews, it seems it's not that surprising. Who knows, food might be great and if you don't get the manager on a bad day, you might be fine but our day was ruined by his aggressive, unpleasant and totally unprofessional attitude. With only two restaurants in town they probably couldn't care less.
Chef de salle, who takes bookings hard to support by his sufficiency and tone he uses to address his clients. End-of-course waitress that should think of the conversion because it too, was very unpleasant. Of course, we will never return to this crêperie/pizzeria although the dishes are correct.
