If you want fine food on a basic budget, then try the three-course lunchtime formula at the Fleur du Sel, easy to spot with its built-in yew tree up by the Gallia Cinema. For 14.60 euros, we had a starter of chicken liver pate with small but clever mixed salad; followed by a magret de canard with an octave of vegetables; ending with a café gourmand of five culinary delights. The duckbreast portion with its delicious crisp fat
We have been coming to its neighbour, which owns it, since it started some years ago, that has got an enviable reputation(option for the more meaty eaters.) With its emphasis on fish(a meat alternative was on the lunch menu) their newish restaurant offers a superb new option for Saintes. The lunch menu, offered the best value/quality for anyone who liked fish in Saintes, a superb marinaded salmon, cod in a citron sauce, and a coffee gourmand. All presented well with options of wine by the glass/pitchers or bottles. All this for under e15. The main menu offered broader options of fish and seafood at decent prices. I rarely give five stars but this was excellent.
A noon. very friendly. simple frame very correct, not very large, so we had reserved. in October. very good meals. difficult to park nearby, but we found a place. It's downtown.
The sister restaurant of Clos des Cours and very much in the same vein, though this one specialises in fish. Excellent cooking, professionally presented. Our couple of meals there have been most impressive and we will certainly return. Highly recommended.
