Contribuisci feedback. Breaking my rule about not eating where there are pictures of the food . . Over the years, we have eaten here often. It's a dull, gloomy, unprepossessing bar in a side street just off the Plaza Mayor. You would think twice about going in. About venturing in. Might it be dangerous? And worst of all it has pictures of the food, for the benefit of foreigners and illiterates. : You stand, or , if you're lucky, sit on a wonky stool, at the bar. They dump the food down in front of you, plonk your drink, expect you to help yourself to both the tissue paper thin serviettes from the plastic holder, and the wooden toothpicks placed strategically every metre along the bar top. Fine dining it ain't. I never eat in restaurants or bars where they have pictures of the food. It's the worst sort of place, catering for foreign tourists who just want everything with chips. But the pictures are a fairly recent addition, hoping to attract foreigners, but without success when we were there. But the food, oh the food, is certainly worth it. You get here the most luscious ham, chorizo, cheese, lomo, salchichon and all the other cholesterol laden goodies that the region is famous for. Then when you've finished licking your lips after that, leave and turn left down the Calle Prior to the ice cream shop on the corner to round off a lovely lunch. .
Typical Spanish bar, good prices and the owner is friendly.
