We had a great visit here.We were greeted by Michael and were made to feel very welcome. The service by staff was amazing, they were very helpful and the food was served quickly and with a smile. The atmosphere was great and the view was relaxing.Thankyou! We will be visiting again.
Family and I came for Christmas dinner hour wait between starter and main while other tables were fed before us even thought they came in much later then us main food was cold and couldn't even order drink to lack of glasses
When I hear stories/warnings about a place before going there I do try and keep an open mind, no honestly. After spending a fair few hours at the Sale Beer Festival, The Railway and then Jitrada (Thai restaurant) see other reviews it was fair to say we 'd had a skin full when we arrived at The Kings Ransom so my impression was somewhat 'blurred '. From what I can remember it was pretty busy, spread over a small number of levels and seemed to have all the hallmarks of a Greene King pub. A bit tired, rough and ready though. On the plus side, the service was swift and you got your ale in a tankard which was a nice change (it 's all about the small things). Seems a shame that it isn 't better, given it 's prime location in Sale 's centre. Could do with a decent refurb. For the moment, it 's a place you 'd go to end your evening (as an anticlimax), rather than start it there...
Quite often, I hear people moaning about the lack of good pubs in Manchester. I ask them if they've been to Kings Ransom and the answer is always no, this place is the ultimate good pub. A little out of the way in Sale but not far from a Metrolink station if you can get to one, it's the ultimate perfect pub. Great food, great drinks, great prices, great people, great times. I'd definitely recommend the place for Sunday lunch, really great.
