I didn't have a sweet Mexican Mom making me homemade meals of chili relleno growing up. That's why I come La Fondita. It's like eating at someone's house. The tortillas are the real deal, and they make the food when you order; thus it takes longer. The horchata is homemade and has an incredible creamy flavor not too sweet. Great service. Nice people. Happened upon this hole-in-the-wall gem today! Very casual atmosphere and a simple menu that packs some big flavor. I ordered the bistek plate that is small chunks of beef surrounded by flavorful grilled onions, tomatoes, and potatoes. Served with a side of refried beans and rice and fresh, handmade corn tortillas, I was FULL. Could not stop eating! My husband ordered the chile verde plate, and the pork was so tender, and since the flavor wasn't so overpowering, you could taste the pork well. Freshly made horchata and corn tortillas really just solidified this trip. The owner is also the chef and waitress, and was so sweet. Give this place a try if you're in the area!
