Caputo's Market & Deli - Salt Lake City

Caputo's is really clean and it seems like they have a lot to offer. All I had was a salad and it was great but I definitely need to go back and try some of their other specialties.

This was the worst overall experience I've ever had, and the meanest I've ever been treated. I went out of my way to take my family there, and it was 10 minutes before closing. Mike the cashier was determined to go home the exact moment closing time came. He rushed us and said he won't take our order after closing time. I even had to use the bathroom really bad, but they wouldn't let me use it because they said you have to buy something first. Plus, he wouldn't wait for me. After Mike rushed us through our order, he immediately kicked us out of the building. Then, my family sat down on a bench outside the front of building to eat our sandwiches, and Mike immediately came outside and kicked us off the property. He probably thought he was being nice, since he forced a weird grin on his face with a look that said, "get to steppin you idiots. I already told you we are closed." Yea, It was real nice lol. That guy is a piece of work and a total jerk. I'm actually giving one star because the sandwiches were ok. But I'll never return to that place. Sad, because I've been there a handful of times for lunch over the past 7 years. Mike, here's a suggestion...Lock the doors 30 minutes before actual closing time so you don't have to treat families like they're an inconvenience to your Friday night plans, then, you won't have to boot them off your property and out of the common parking lot.

A very traditional deli setting and I love that you can purchase fresh meats and cheeses and pastas here. The actual deli though (cafeteria-style ordering) I didn't really enjoy. It might just be me, but I wasn't dying over the food. My husband like the Prosciutto sandwich he ordered just fine, but the caprese salad I ordered was just mozzarella balls and whole cherry tomatoes, and the minestrone soup was mostly an oily broth without much substance. The service was a little abrupt as well.

Totally love this place! Their market has a lot of great stuff like gourmet salts, oils, vinegars, olives, sausages and other meats and oodles of cheese which you can taste before you buy. They have tons of different chocolates both local and from all over the world. They also have a cafeteria that makes an excellent Muffaletta sandwich and Tiramisu. We stop in every time we are in the area. I would be mad at myself if I missed an opportunity to stop in. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
