I loved it. It’s a little bit high-end feeling in the bakery but I don’t find the prices to be too bad. My danish was about $6. Overall, I think it’s great!
I was visiting Salt Lake City with a friend and the airbnb recommended this spot for its Olive Oil Cake! It was my first time trying it so I didn’t know what to expect. It was very rich in the best way possible and normally I’m not a fan of frosting but it really added to the depth in flavor! My friend got the Pesto sandwich and the bread was amazingly crispy! I would highly recommend stopping in here for a sweet treat with some great company.
I thought the food was great. Loved the croissants I tried. Incredibly slow service on a not so busy morning. Staff just standing around chit chatting. I was asked to clear my plates after dining, and when I stated that I'd left 20% tip and that they could clear it, a staff member gently grabbed my arm and stated that's not the way it works here. Let's me say I was confused on so many levels. 1) I didn't realize I'd stopped at McDonald's and was going to be clearing my own dishes. 2) Don't ask for a tip. Since the cultural standard is a level of service beyond taking my order for a tip. 3) The staff member who stopped me as I was walking out the door, and to ask me to go back and clear my dishes would be out of a job if he worked for me. He get paid to work there, I don't. I paid the restaurant money to be served, not to be told to do their job. Remove the request for a tip and I'll be glad to clear my dishes.
So far best bakery in downtown area.Lovely employees as well. After Gourmandise felling this guys rising.Tried cheesecake and **** orange cake both were delicious.Give it a try!
My all time favorite bakery in SLC, the ultimate famous olive oil cake here is the only cake I crave whenever I feel like cake, especially with a hot cup of very well done coffee. You can usually get it by the slice most days, but you can also get the full cake in several sizes starting at 6 . It 's an extra treat to have the full cake because then I get olive oil cake for a couple days (absolutely makes the table at the tea party, gifted by a friend in the pic at afternoon tea I hosted awhile back). Having been all over the country and having had a lot of pasteries and cakes from all over, this is still my total favorite cake- so incredible it 's right here in SLC and that I can get it so close to home. I love that these guys know how to do coffee well, I 've never had a bad coffee here even though everything is artistically brewed but so classic at the same time. All the other baked goods outside of my go-to olive oil cake are fab, you really can 't be disappointed at Tulie, it just doesn 't happen. It 's such a classic bakery and everything is simple, elegant, but done to perfection. They have two locations, I personally like their original location best, there is little seating but I usually have better luck with selection at this location. Either way, you can 't go wrong- the location up in the Aves are in a cute neighborhood with a deli and art gallery next door so both are good to check out depending on what neighborhood you 're in. Either way, if you 're in SLC and looking for a classic modern bakery, this place is your ultimate vibe.
