Gotta say, this might be the best place if ever seen? A perfect mess of great people with the doors always open to greet you. For 2 decades I have supported this VFW, not only as a patron, but honored to serve those who have served. I've probably seen just about everything in this place over the years and knowing how historic it is just makes it better. Great service, good vibe, friendly place to hang out.
What a like about this VFW is, that both veterans and civilians can go to this bar. The drinks are cheap and the customer service is very good. But make no mistake, this is a bar for veterans. It is situated on a good part of highland drive close to SugarHouse. Unfortunately, during covid-19 they can't participate in preparing food. But otherwise, our doors are wide open for civilians, and most oftenly veterans who we give open arms to. During covid-19 this bar has obeyed the mandates during the pandemic, and you can enjoy yourself without worrying that the covid-19 social atmosphere brings. The upstairs is open only during this time . They have a great bar staff it is not snobby and it is a local bar that veterans go to, but, civilians are most welcome. Please give respect to those that have served our country. And you will be accepted with open arms.
This is my new favorite bar in SLC. Great laid back atmosphere, best-priced drinks, good bartenders. They have a couple pool tables, and when we were there they had a good band of old boys playing some great tunes. I'll definitely be back.
The VFW is one of my go-to spots when exploring a new town. I love engaging in good conversation and enjoying affordable drinks, both of which are always available at The Post. This location has quickly become my favorite, aside from the one in downtown Sacramento. The VFW purchased this building about a decade ago, which used to be a Polynesian-themed restaurant with plenty of character. The basement is beautifully Nautically themed, with port view windows behind the bar showcasing Oceanside scenes and the timbers supported by mast sirens. For a VFW, the prices here are incredibly low - a pint of Coors Light on tap is only $1.75, and a standard mixed drink is $2.50. Even my pricier tastes were satisfied, with a Jamison shot costing just $3.75. Torb, the bartender, was friendly and a fantastic conversationalist. He recommended trying out their Sunday brunch, which I hope to experience in the future.
