Large hand-knittered tacos....coole reuse an old tank. chorizo taco was filled with taste, with a large back heat
I was a little disappointed to watch this restaurant, not after bc covid public health order. none of the employees wore masks and patrons, including my wife and I, were not checked at the door to check the vaccine status. that said the place was only partially occupied so that we decided to stay. they have made decent work with limited resources to create an authentic Mexican atmosphere. my fish taco was excellent, very fresh and tasty. beautiful to see, they have some non-Mexican eating options and my wife enjoyed their burger and wobble rings. the service was also very good. they only have to go with the Covid program and earn the fifth star.
My family and I came over an hour before closing, but we 're guessing that the restaurant was to close soon due to a lack of customers. the personal advised that they could let us eat what we were grateful for. we ate fast and. did not dwell out respect and we were ready to go/pay within 20 minutes. when I paid cash, my mother first gave the waiter $40, which covered the bill, plus an additional $1.70 she continued to look through her wallet as he waited from our side as she tried to find suitable names for the remaining tip. my mother has a broken hand in a sling and fought so fast, while one hand, so my wife then showed that she will cover the tip. my wife was clear through her purse, as expressed in an rude and sarcastic ton, the older waiter (name unknown), wow. a dollar-seventy. second later, we found some money and gave him a reasonable 15 percent tipp, despite feeling deducted from his commentary; there was no thanks to follow. eating was okay, but the bad customer service will prevent us from coming back. I realize that they have gone out of theirs by not closing earlier than expected, but I would rather have eaten at another place if I knew how we are being treated. salt spring island is known for a good energy, but unfortunately we were with a bad taste in our mouth. perhaps the lack of customers on a Friday is due to personal behavior and I should have been tipped off from it from the beginning. on the basis of my experience, this place is better suited for the exit, but I do not think I would even make it out of the principle.
Really great meal from here today, Fiesta Bowl with Chicken and a Chicken Quesadilla, both were delicious. The order taker, while obviously new, thankfully pointed out a couple of items in my bowl that “some people don’t like” and yes, I wouldn’t have liked them,...so got rid of that. Very helpful service and a nice patio to eat on. Good Covid protocols from staff less so from a few customers we witnessed . Side note a man who came to help the order taker, maybe the owner ? , was someone I saw smoke 3 cigarettes. Once when I was walking around before you opened, one while I waited for you to open up and once while I was eating, and yes, the smoke wafted over while I was eating. I fully realize you were doing nothing technically wrong but for the sake of appearance maybe find a spot behind the restaurant to do that. Just a thought.
