Contribuisci feedbackI ordered the fried egg roll and hot and sour soup.
It has been several years since I've gone to Tongs ThaiI had been a regular customer when i was a student at UIW right down the street.
So goodVibes are really awesomeWait staff are attentive and personable. The food though is out of this world.
The food is still mostly great and the new remodel looks good. However, the atmosphere is affected by the takeout table piled with orders and positioned in the dining room and the service has declined. Obviously, takeout is the priority now, because our service was extremely slow, while takeout orders flew out of the kitchen. We waited on menus, none of which have prices. Only the online menu has prices. Dishes were brought and set in a pile. Food came much later. For some reason, staff kept taking condiments off the tables, even though we were still eating. We waited a very long time for our bill and longer for the bubble teas we ordered. I felt like we were being rushed as the table was constantly being bussed but then we waited forever at every stage of the meal for what we needed. The only thing they were efficient about was refilling my kids' sodas without asking, so none of them ate their food. Meanwhile, I gave up trying to get another round for my wife and myself. Overall, it was clear that we weren't important enough to compete with the customers who didn't care to dine in, even though we were ordering alcohol. As far as the food, it was mostly up to the standard you'd expect at Tong's. The pineapple fried rice was good. Crab Supreme had plenty of crab and my wife lived it. The lo mein my son ordered was bland, but I've never had it at Tong's before, he enjoyed it. The Tom Yam seemed to have white mushrooms not straw mushrooms, which isn't as advertised. My Basil Bowl was not great, however. The sauce was runny and the noodles overcooked to the point that I couldn't eat them, even with a fork and spoon. They just sorta fell apart. I've had this dish dozens of times. This was not right. I would've said something but by the time I got any service, my kids were tired and it wouldn't have been fair to make everyone wait even longer for me to get decent food. Basically, it was easier to give up. I love Tong's but it will be a long time before I return for dinner. They're not the only game in town, anymore. There are half a dozen other Thai restaurants within a 5 minute drive and they actually seem pleased to have us. For the first time, I can say I really didn't enjoy Tong's Thai. In fact, it soured our whole evening.
