Downstairs - San Andreas

After reading positive reviews of this popular restaurant, my group decided to give it a try before heading upstairs. I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't offered the Batman light for my margarita, but the drink itself more than made up for it. The ambiance was very intimate, and the staff was attentive.

We had a great time at this restaurant. The bison burger was delicious.

This is a genuine speak-easy. It is dimly lit, quiet, and stylish, and they serve amazing cocktails.

They did not initially wish to accept our reservation because they allowed a private party to prolong their end-time; but after we let them know how pleased we were to go there, they found one way to work. we had a great time and alexander the chemist barkeeper was great! if I ever get back to san antonio, I will definitely be back.

We booked this for a dinner without knowing that, while they do serve some food, it is primarily a bar. A very cool bar. We ended up having two cheese boards for dinner and loved every bite. Excellent choices for the cheeses and the extras were substantial and excellent. The menu of hand crafted drink offerings were very impressive. We have started to recommend Downstairs to everyone who will listen. Not the easiest to find however. Go in the street door or Esquire and take a left towards the restrooms. Door marked with Downstairs is it. Nothing else to let you know. Worth the effort.
