First time at Flour+Water, celebrating a pre-Valentines day dinner here. This restaurant comes highly rated and I myself, will now join that group of ravers
An excellent Italian restaurant. In contemporary Italian fashion, each dish creates striking and creative combinations from only a couple of ingredients. They were all executed perfectly. The Taleggio scarpinocc is excellent; the only constant on the changing menu. It’s fairly basic but the ingredients each possess a storied depth: 10 years aged balsamic complements aged taleggio perfectly. Each bite is a pocket of of cheesey satisfaction. The veal agnolotti has a filling that is fine and juicy. The sauce has a tangy sour taste, which is refreshing and a fun change from the initial creaminess. The celery root was enjoyable. The smoked duck ravioli has a soft and lightly smoky flavor. The pomegranate mustarda is brilliant as contrast with the richer umami from the duck. Dessert brought the meal to the next level. The parmigiana Reggiano ice cream had a thicker mouthfeel while leaving hints of aged umami in the sweet ice cream. The 25 year aged balsamic was funky and different, a lovely addition. The chocolate budino was stellar. It’s a study in two soft yet different textures: a thicker espresso whipped cream with a rich chocolate pudding. That’s it, but it felt like so much more. The sea salt adds some occasional fun texture.
The ricotta appetizer was super great and their triple asparagus pizza was so tasty. Above all I have to recommend their desert, check out the picture. Would recommend making reservations before hand. Also they had a variety of vegetarian options.
Very cute and romantic date night spot. I have been wanting to come here a while. Do make reservations online. They’re usually booked about up to a week in advance but do put your name down on the waitlist as spots open up. Was ableTo snag a table for the next night.Personally, I think ordering a la carte is better than the tasting menu. We had the sausage pizza and margherita pizza, similar to the pizzas I’ve had in Italy. We also had the veal bolognese (5/5 hearty and rich), taleggio scarpinocc (5/5 had a delightful balsamic? smokiness to it), whole wheat bigoli (3/5) and cornmeal garganelli (3/5). For dessert, we had the Burundi (4/5) and sorbetto (5/5 refreshing melon flavor).
