Hot Joy - San Andreas

The ambiance, the drinks, the fooood… everything was spectacular! The food was so fresh and the portions are huge. We had such an amazing time at hot joy and will definitely be returning.

Overall, we had a great time. The Bad: Music choice is great but LOUD to the point of no thanks everywhere you go. I may be a chilly person but it seemed cold to me too, maybe I was just right by a vent for the AC. Decor is great but the LED lights on the ceiling flickered to a point it became unpleasant. Also the biggest point is the host on shift tonight (2/15/24 needs training. He was incredibly curt to the point of rudeness, acted like we were imposing on him when the restaurant was at like 40% capacity and we had a couple inquiries (is a booth available, how long is the wait, etc. , and was just being kind of a jerk. Other guests waiting with me mentioned it too, and it was so bad my partner would have walked out, but I insisted on staying because the menu was exciting. Maybe he wasn't having a great day, I get it, but it was off putting to the point that I have to mention it. The Good: Basically everything else. The vibes were immaculate if they fix the light flickering and the acoustics. The decor was very well curated, as was the playlist. The menu items we tried were fantastic. The duck dumplings and the shrimp dumplings both blew our minds (the shrimp in particular was something that will live in my mind rent free forever . We tried a variety of cocktails and they were all amazing, very well balanced, and thoughtful. Finally, the service was fantastic. Dawson was attentive and personable, and had great recommendations. I would for sure go back again.

Was pretty busy so I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt. But took a while to get served, some food was never brought out, they did give us a refund. Bartender/server got annoyed at us for joking around like we all knew eachother? Not sure what happened but he was not nice after a certain point, and maybe a bit overpriced besides the wings. (Wing Wednesday)

First visit, looking forward to going back! A nice, clean place with friendly and attentive staff. We were able to choose things from the lunar new year menu, which we really enjoyed. From the regular menu, I had the curry lamb dumplings, which were delicious! My drinks were made perfectly. My friend really enjoyed his food as well. I'll definitely be going back again! Great happy hour. Awesome tiki drinks. Excellent place for a group of friends to share some food as its served family style. Makes it super easy to try a bit of everything. Chief/cooks seem to get alot of leeway on renditions of traditional dishes. If you want traditional this is not your place but the food is amazing. Try the pork belly fried rice.
