The owner served us and was fantastic. There is a great selection of tequila as well. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not crowded at all when we visited on a Wednesday night - we were the only table. However, this place deserves more customers. The food was outstanding with the best quality and selection of Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico. San Diego's Patron's Corner is definitely worth a try.
We decided to leave after waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes without receiving our food. At the 30-minute mark, the manager informed us that the chef had fallen ill and had to leave, but might return later. Despite the server repeatedly saying it would be just 10 more minutes, we eventually gave up. Upon leaving, I expressed my disappointment to the manager for not disclosing the extent of the delay upfront and allowing us to decide whether to stay. Instead of apologizing, the manager argued with me, leading us to order food from Burger Lounge and take it to go. I might have considered returning if the manager had handled the situation differently.
The service at this restaurant was extremely slow and the food was mediocre at best. Despite having a reservation for 8 people at lunchtime and arriving on time to a mostly empty restaurant, it still took 45 minutes for our order to be taken. It seemed like they were short-staffed. We were unaware that chips and salsa were not provided to each table and did not receive any as a courtesy to help us pass the time during the long wait. Overall, the dining experience was disappointing.
We were looking for a nice place to go on a date. So happy we chose Patron's Corner. Started with a couple of appetizers drinks. It was delicious. Nice selection of tequilas margaritas were the bomb. We had scallops fillet mingon norteno. It was really good. Service was attentive. I will definitely bring my girl back here again. Best date in a long time.
Really killer patron margaritas. Amazingly good creamed corn appetizer. It is served as a soup, but you can request they thicken it for eating as a dip with chips. That said, main dishes just ok. We are gringos who lived in Guadalajara for eight years. We have had gourmet Mexican food (as opposed to our familiar Tex-Mex), Patron’s Corner falls short. Probably better choices in the Gaslamp Quarter.
