I went to the restaurant and immediately felt warm memories of the past. The food was delicious with generous portions.
Sear 's was very convenient to our hotel near Union Square. The prices were appropriate for a nice dinner for the location. We ordered the Pt Reyes Fondue as a starter and it was EXCELLENT. A pale blue cheese dip that was more cheese crumbs than anything else served with a fantastic dried cherry and apricots Chutney, roasted garlic and sourdough. WOW! I'd go back alone. The rest of the meal was also excellent (we had the Shortribs and Basa Filet Special), how was the service. A very pleasant meal.
Quick service and no wait for a table for 1 on a Tuesday. Server was a little stiff, not particularly friendly. Good was great. Wonderful Caesar salad with just the right about if dressing (just a hint) and a fantastic filet cooked perfectly.
My wife and I were warmly greeted and seated at our reserved time. Our Blue Fondue appetizer was very different (in a good way) and tastey. Her salad and my soup and seafood pasta were excellent, both highlighting a passion for the culinary arts in the kitchen. What prevented a 5-star rating was the neglectful service. We were uncertain if our server was new, improperly trained (first course arrived before appetizer), wrestling with personal issues, overworked, or just plain indifferent. We were not greeted promptly, ice tea refills were non-existent, rarely checked with us, course out of order, and generally not available. We plan to revisit since food was excellent, but we'll try a different server.
