This place is a bit out of the net, but its growing in popularity so use and go now before it gets too full. I loved the food there and the place itself... the travelers who know something or two about the island know that they go there for a good meal.
I can't remember what we ate. I think it was Calamari and a fish sandwich. I remember eating was wonderful. Right on the beach; but the beach chairs were not part of the restaurant. Nevertheless, the food was fresh and good. I highly recommend it.
After the busy beach scene in the north of San Andres, Star's Kitchen was a welcome change. Although the tables fill up at lunch time, you never feel like it's crowded. We sat on low chairs on the beach and had Picadas (a sampler platter with chicken, sausage, and fish) and grilled tuna sandwiches. Their freshly-made fruit juices are wonderfully refreshing. I recommend spending an afternoon there--look for Star's father, Sky, who weaves coconut palm-leaf baskets on the beach there, and is a wealth of knowledge about island history and culture. He makes all the baskets for the restaurant, makes them to order for a good price, and, for the patient, will even teach you how! This place has a lot of local flavor, and feels like the real San Andres.
It doesn 't look like much, but Star 's Kitchen packs a punch when comes to quality drinks, food and service. Make sure to try the mixed seafood cerviche and the deliciously fruity cocktail as you take a place under a coconut tree on this quiet sandy beach spot with the portable chairs provided.
Really nice relaxed place but we waited about an hour to get our food after the order... It was a bit exciting, the kitchen was just so slow. And then my fish was very dry. Hubs liked his octopus court. Beautiful area, but would not return for food.
