The ambiance is as if you traveled back in time with the chandelier, brick walls, fringed or table clothed tables and memorabilia on the walls. The food is delicious! I love the homemade chips! The beer-ritas are so good also!
Meh at best. My wife and I went here for a birthday party of a co-worker. I looked at the menu before going to the restaurant and was looking forward to catfish or one of their burgers. I guess when it's a larger party you get a limited menu. I overheard someone in the party ask about a burger and they were told they could not get anything not on the menu because the restaurant was too busy (there were maybe 30-40 people max in the entire building). As we were walking out when it was much busier I noticed 4-5 people at other tables with burgers. This is when I came to the conclusion you can only have certain items when in a party (they also had the full menu available). Another couple brought their young child and had to almost beg for their kid to get a side of fries because they didn't want crab cakes or stuffed trout... Another issue was the service in general. They had one server for our party of 20. This would have been fine but she was rarely around. It took 10 minutes to get my first refill. When my food came we were never checked on so I was unable to request anything. I'm not sure if it was because the tip was built in (stated 18% on the menu but was actually 20% on the bill) or just rough service. Lastly the food. It was okay at best. The vegetables were great. The crab cakes looked amazing and I regret not ordering them. I got a chicken fried steak but it was about the same as a Texas Roadhouse. The salad before the meal was maybe 1/4 cup of lettuce and doused in dressing. Overall would I never come back? No. Would I personally choose this place to go eat? No. Would I go if someone invited me? Probably.
Found this place in this little country town. The place is ear catching for certain. Miss Hattie reminds me of the lady from Despicable Me..however, this is nothing like that movie. Upon entering, the place seems quite empty, but we were asked if we wanted a seat in main dining or bar area. I was told the bar area was lively with music and more people. So the bar is what I chose. A saxophone player cane in and played excellent jazzy tunes of old. Very nice! Prior to his arrival there was nice jazzy ambient music being played. The servers were quite busy tending to the people in the area, however my water cup was refilled as soon as my server came by and saw it was enpty. The day was quite hot, but the air conditioning was able to keep up and the fans in the room were able to circulate the air well. I am a California girl in hot humid Texas and I was very comfortable. Food time! Onion rings to start. My hubby has been in search of good onion rings, these onion rings are among the best we have tried. Salad, it is a basic salad with fresh ingredients and a honey mustard dressing that has a zing! Buyer beware, it is mustard, truly, not that wanna be mustard that is grocery store honey mustard. Main dish time! Chicken fried steak is tasty, milk gravy is on par, just like how my momma made it. Veggies are not overly cooked. Mashed potatoes are creamy. The actual meat did have some bites which my husband had difficult with and needed to get rid of. My meatloaf was very yummy! I had the same mashed potatoes and veggies and I really enjoyed the mix. Service was really good. People were hospitable. Aesthetics were super fun and cool. Reminded me of a saloon from a western movie, just needs a card game. I have to say the pricing varies. They have pricing for every wallet, if you want to spend big, you can at over $30 close to $40 for an aged steak, or if your funds are meager, you can save with a $15 plate. My cocktail was $7.50 and even better was my husband's $9 onion rings. So fear not the fancy decor and live music. You can choose affordable dishes. I would highly recommend this place. If I lived here, I would definitely be coming back!
Crab cakes were crispy in the outside moist texture with. Fresh avocado. Also ordered the bun less burger. Had a kick of spicy was to it. Ambience was semi-casual. With an ecclesiastical decor. Service was friendly and attentive. It also wasn't busy for being a Saturday afternoon. Restroom were clean.
March 3,2023 11:15 Table for four. Appetizer arrived at 11:30 And entree around 11:50. So don't be in a real hurry when you come in. Exterior: a Victorian-style building dating to 1884. Interior: stuffed full of period pieces. Clothing and furniture. The food is always good. I once ordered the BLAT. It wasn't great. But everything else is delicious. I definitely recommend the Texas Toothpicks and the Miss Hattie burger. Very yummy food. Miss Hatties Bordello Museum Miss Hattie's Cafe and Saloon Cat house and saloon.
