Kona Grill San Antonio

Must have been the big NYE crowd, ran out of a couple of options we wanted to order, prime rib was over cooked seem like it was sitting under a heat lamp way too long, however my wife’s Stirfry was just right. Maybe just a busy night.

Not bad price was high for quality, but still not bad

Pretty disappointed. Reservation was for 645, we were seated around 710. The hostess told us the wait was because the table was being cleaned, which was clearly a lie because people were still sitting at the table. Once seated the waiter took around 10 minutes to show up, probably not his fault as he appeared to have too many tables. There didn’t appear to be enough wait staff working; common in 2022 but some restaurants overcome it, Kona has not. The food was subpar and overpriced honestly. I feel like I could make the same thing at home with ingredients from HEB for far less. I had never been to Kona before, I probably won’t go back, and I cannot recommend this place to a friend when there’s other options that consistently deliver like Yard House and Whiskey Cake.

Average food and average service. It used to be much much better

It is a good experience. tested the happy hour, are portions unexpectedly large, food presentation and taste is not remarkable. would not be really interesting to return.
