What a pleasant experience! saw at the sushi bar for dinner with a friend who is something new to sushi. the chefs were exhausting, knowledgeful and funny! my friend enjoyed the experience, did not mention the feeling, intimidated after he had expected to feel so a bit. the sushi was fresh and the rolling amazing! I wish they had provided the prices on the menu, as it would have saved a little surprise when the check arrived.
I had better $1 instant noodles of Udon. I don't know what they served me, but it was sick sweet and the noodles tasted like plastic. It was disgusting, but what made me gag was the fact that she had the Audacity to calculate 15 dollars for what was clear from a plastic package and microwave. Her sushi was terrible. They were clearly pouring on the actual sushi and jamming the rolls full of cheap ingredients. All I could taste was the big bell of cream cheese in the role I had ordered. The service was slow on a rather empty restaurant and the waitress was ignorant about the menu. The atmosphere was inconvenient, stand was uncomfortable, and decor was sticky. I have no idea how this place is rated so high. What about the suburbs that attract bad restaurants with suspicious high reviews? I had great hopes, but these hopes were rushed. Just eat here if you don't know how Japanese food should actually taste. If you don't, just buy some instant Udon and HEB sushi. It will be a fraction of the price and still taste better than this slip.
It was okay, nothing spectacular, but good enough to make another try. the bentobox I would skip the next time definitiw and instead roll. the green mustels were better than expected and had a really nice heat for them. service was good and place was nice and clean.
It's great to see a good sushi restaurant in Stone Oak. The rolls are delicious and priced right (for the area). The staff was polite and attentive. The only critique I have is there is a shortage of salmon or tuna focused rolls. But if you like shrimp rolls, you're in luck. The tuna nigiri is a good deal and the rolls were well balanced yet elaborate. The two of us did lunch for under $40. Not bad. I'm going back! Update 5/22 Dinner tonight was delicious. The rice crispy app was a good start. I really enjoyed the Luis and Rainbow rolls for good'ol classic fish based sushi. I recommend the Marilyn Monroll for something different. It's a sweet and savory roll, using strawberry and fish. Add some soy and wasabi for an amazingly rounded flavor. They have a decent Saki selection, too. I found the special Philly had too much cream cheese. It really overpowered the rest of the roll. But that's a pretty typical mistake with cream cheese, imo. I think I might try a poke bowl next time. Those looked yummy. Table for four had a filling dinner for$120+ tax.
