I was in the area, looking for a new place to eat lunch. I tried this place for the first time today, 6/1/2022. It’s located in a nice shopping center in Stone Oak. It’s small, cozy, and clean and has an inviting ambience with lots of natural light from the windows. I was immediately greeted with a smile from the hostess as I walked in and was seated. I had the vegetable gyoza as an appetizer, which was fried lightly and crisp and the dipping sauce was flavorful. The green salad was fresh and plentiful with a couple of slices of tomato and cucumber slices, plenty of greens and shredded carrots and a side of ginger dressing. I already knew just with those two dishes that the rest of my meal would be just as good. I ordered the Lennon Pepper Tuna Roll which was fresh, tasty and delicious. I also ordered the salmon skin hand roll which I love for the crunchiness of the salmon skin and all the ingredients came together well. I was happily pleased with my new experience here. I hate spending on a meal that isn’t good, so I usually stick to what I know. I’m glad I tried this place, everything was fresh and delicious!! I regret not taking pics!! I just ate it all up!!
My favorite sushi place in San Antonio. Service: Perla is the perfect example of a 5 service. Restaurant: Minimalist and cozy at the same time. Patio is very nice Food: I ordered the Agedashi Tofu (appetizer), Crispy Tuna Roll*, and Cheesecake Roll* (dessert) Espresso coffee. Everything was SUPERB! You can't go wrong with this restaurant. *Pictures below
It's great to see a good sushi restaurant in Stone Oak. The rolls are delicious and priced right (for the area). The staff was polite and attentive. The only critique I have is there is a shortage of salmon or tuna focused rolls. But if you like shrimp rolls, you're in luck. The tuna nigiri is a good deal and the rolls were well balanced yet elaborate. The two of us did lunch for under $40. Not bad. I'm going back! Update 5/22 Dinner tonight was delicious. The rice crispy app was a good start. I really enjoyed the Luis and Rainbow rolls for good'ol classic fish based sushi. I recommend the Marilyn Monroll for something different. It's a sweet and savory roll, using strawberry and fish. Add some soy and wasabi for an amazingly rounded flavor. They have a decent Saki selection, too. I found the special Philly had too much cream cheese. It really overpowered the rest of the roll. But that's a pretty typical mistake with cream cheese, imo. I think I might try a poke bowl next time. Those looked yummy. Table for four had a filling dinner for$120+ tax.
