Longhorn Cafe - San Antonio

Not a bad place, but for us, it was just average. We visited during an off-peak time and waited about 30 minutes for two cheeseburgers and onion rings. Thirty minutes! Unfortunately, the onion rings arrived cold, as if they had been sitting under an A/C vent while we waited for our burgers. On the bright side, the burgers were quite good. Based on previous reviews and our own experience, this place can be hit or miss. It’s a bit of a gamble—take a chance and see for yourself.

The food here is fantastic! You order at the counter and then find a seat until your name is called. The meals are served on a tray, and you can watch the chefs at work in the kitchen. There are also outdoor seating options in a pleasant area. You help yourself to drinks, and the sweet tea was particularly delicious! I did take away a star because the area behind the restaurant, where the bathrooms are located, was not well-maintained; it felt unclean and had an odd smell. However, the service was excellent—staff members were friendly and energetic, and the food came out quickly.

My husband and I have been visiting Longhorn Cafe for several years, but we've noticed a decline in service, food quality, and cleanliness. Today marks our final visit to the Brooks City Base location. After placing our order, we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When we looked for silverware, we found that it was coated with food residues, as shown in the picture below. Our onion rings were only lukewarm, and all the spice bottles were dirty. The restaurant itself appeared unkempt and in need of a thorough cleaning. It's a sad end for a once-great spot.

Very moderate, but there are not many high quality restaurants around them. I have the fish dinner w/ two sides salad w/ ranch and okra. Look at the salad that came with him. Please... just throw some shredded salad and a tomato slice does not correspond to a salad. A kind of scum when you ask me.

Great food and staff. Good prices, excellent food. Spacious areas. Tables were greasy and so were chairs.
