However, the crab cakes were a bit disappointing; the seasoning didn't taste right to me. I would recommend getting olive oil and pepper for the bread, as the vinegar gave it an unusual flavor. Overall, the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance. Unfortunately, our waiter took it upon himself to add a 20% tip to our bill without allowing us the option to change it.
My family and I were pleasantly surprised by our experience at this restaurant. It's just a few blocks from the main Alamo Plaza. When we first arrived, we were a bit wary since it was empty and we were the only customers there. The place had an old gangster vibe that made us feel like we had stepped back in time, which was quite enjoyable. The staff was exceptional and very polite, which really won us over. The food was great too—not too much ricotta cheese and a generous portion. As we were finishing our meal, more customers started to arrive, but the quality of service remained high throughout our visit. During our four days in San Antonio, this was the best meal we had, and we will definitely return on our next visit.
Describing the service and the meal as "amazing" doesn’t quite do it justice. A special thanks to our server, who went out of his way to take pictures for us and ensure that we had a memorable experience. Even when we asked them about our orders, they responded graciously. This restaurant is the perfect choice for a romantic evening or simply to enjoy excellent food. We had a fantastic time here, even though we were surprised by a request for a $50 tip. Nonetheless, it's a spot we would highly recommend!
