It was very good, not greasy and very crunchy. We also ordered the pan fried string beans, they were nice and crunchy not soggy. Make sure you ask to make them spicy. The last dish was the Mongolian beef,it was average nothing to write home about. The place wasn't at all crowded, but i did see alot of pick up orders. I will say, the service was very good, even the owner came by to see how we were enjoying our food. If ever again I'm in San Bruno, I will stop by and grab a bite.
Most of the food we ordered here tastes awesome. The service was quick. Sodas are served in cans (not from a soda fountain) so dont expect for a refill, just ask for water. Staff are honest and polite.
I would give the food quality a 4 out of 5 as they do give a good amount of portion. Some of their menu items are not that tasteful compared to the neighboring Chinese restaurant. For me the organe chicken and honey walnut shrimp is spoton. Also the chicken fried rice is tasteful
Hon Lin has delicious food. Put it this way. They season there food right. Try the seaweed egg drop soup and add seafood to it. Off the hook. There Peking Duck is on hit. Very happy when I eat here.
Hon Lin is great because they have no problem catering to the authentic Chinese and the Americanized Chinese (which I am a part of lol). Great consistent food. And they offer great banquets for large groups (during non Covid). We have hosted red egg and ginger parties and 1 table chinese new year dinners here over the years and have never been disappointed. Gave them a 4 only because the decor hasnt changed since the 80s, but the food is always first rate.
