It's a converted colonial home with lots of little staircases and winding passageways but beautifully decorated with local crafts. We requested a quiet room with good lighting and received room 25 which overlooks a rooftop garden and was at the end of the passageway. It was quiet and bright. San Cristobal does get cold at night and we were worried about this as many of the reviews in the hotels of the area do not have heating but this room had a radiant plugin heater which we used briefly the first night. It worked well. The bathroom was small and the hot water took a LONG time to come through and the pressure wasn't great (perhaps because we were so high up in the building? but it was enough to get us washed and rinsed. We didn't eat at the hotel although the dining area looked lovely. I'm not sure the dining room was even open as one evening I asked to borrow a knife and was told that the restaurant was closed (this was about 6pm and so I couldn't have a knife! The night stand lamp didn't work and there were no convenient plugs to plug our devices into (a big no no for me otherwise I would have given this place 5 stars.
We initially had two nights booked and extended our stay as we loved San Cristobal and the hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff made our staff extra special. Wifi was great, hot water in the shower and bed comfy. Lots of blankets and a heater available upon request. Bottled water daily, lots of towels and toiletries. Very clean. Restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and lots of sitting areas in the hotel to chill. Literally steps from the mail n square, shops and restaurants with a bakery scores the street. Fabulous location. If you love to stay in a place with character, close to the main square, you found it!
Good location good service clean hotel however the shower leaked and some of the powerpoints didn’t work the one that powered the tv included yet they gave us a remote for the tv lol. No English speaking staff had to use a translator app. Wouldn’t recommend the restaurant although we only had breakfast seemed expensive for what you got. Markets and restaurants in the area are very reasonable.
