Got to relax in the room read my book, watch some tv, enjoy the evening reception light snack and two free drinks then wake up to a nice made to order omelet and a hot coffee (they only had half and half, soy and original creamer) glad I brought my vanilla creamer. In room they have a microwave and mini fridge. Don't pay for online parking they will bill you for parking after your stay and it's cheaper. I will definitely come back to this location for a little getaway.
My experience at Embassy Suites San Rafael for a wedding was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. Despite booking approximately 40 rooms for wedding guests, the hotel failed spectacularly in delivering on its promises. The first night started promisingly enough with a pleasant gathering in the lobby bar, where we enjoyed drinks and mingled until late. However, the next day, after the wedding ceremony, turned into a nightmare. The event coordinator, had assured the bride for months that the lobby bar would remain open late into the night for the wedding party to continue celebrating. To our shock, upon returning from the wedding, we found the bar closed with bartenders still present but refusing to serve. When we questioned about it being closed, the situation quickly escalated. The manager was summoned and callously dismissed our concerns, denying any prior arrangement and displaying utter disrespect. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, he laughed at us and even summoned the police to intimidate us, treating us as if we were trespassers rather than paying guests. They even threatened that leaving the premises meant we wouldn't be allowed back, despite the fact that we had paid for 40 rooms for two nights. The manager's incompetence was glaring. Rather than problem-solving, he resorted to heavy-handed tactics, undermining any notion of customer service. His failure to honor commitments made well in advance and his disrespectful attitude towards our situation were deeply unprofessional. I strongly advise against anyone considering this hotel for their wedding or event. Despite their promises of convenience and competitive rates, the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and the resorting to intimidation tactics are inexcusable. Save yourself the trouble, look elsewhere, and spare your guests the stress of dealing with such abysmal service. Embassy Suites San Rafael has proven itself unfit to handle events or accommodate guests in a manner befitting of its claims.
I am an adventurer at heart and one of my favorite things to do is pack a go-bag and hit the road whenever I have a few days to enjoy a long drive and get lost on purpose. I chose Embassy Suites in San Rafael because I had good memories from a previous stay there back in 2010 with my baby girl. This visit was not such a great experience. I was greeted by walking cigarettes and could barely breath with the cloud of smoke around the staff checking me in. I was told that upon checking in, the hotel had been rennavated so I was expecting some pleasant surprises....boy was I wrong. I walked in to a room with a blue cord hanging from the top of the wall taped up with masking tape so it was hanging in sections. Then, I was met with hairs on almost every surface of the bathroom including the toilet, the sink, and the shower. There was also hair chilling on the dirty organizer that held the coffee and creamer. I had been driving all day and just wanted to sleep but I didn't even sleep in the bed, I used the pillows and extra blanket left in the closet. The next morning I attempted to make coffee and the creamer came out clumpy...and to top it off, no stirrer to stir the coffee had it been edible. I have to say the only two things I could positiviely speak about was the parking and the breakfast. I could see my car from my hotel room window BUT I did have to pay $15 for parking and the breakfast. Breakfast was actually very good for hotel breakfast. I would suggest choosing another hotel if looking in the area, this was definitely not work the $205 I lost on this stay.
Yesterday, a friend and I went to the bar for a drink. The place was slightly crowded, and we couldn't find two seats together, so we decided to stand. The bartender, whose name I believe was Aziz approached us, we placed our order. We ordered two drinks from him and then waited for 15-20 minutes, watching as he attended to people seated at the bar. I told my friend that he was probably just busy and would get to us soon. However, we noticed new patrons arriving and being served before us. Realizing what was happening, we decided to leave.
ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1 5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations 5 Easy as always using CONCUR at work. Parking 3 While there is a gigantic parking lot dedicated to this hotel, there is an additional charge to the guest to park here. The web page and the app said parking was $10 a night, but the desk staff wanted to charge $15 a night. I let them know what the app said and was told we recently changed the price . After some discussion I paid $10 a night. They don 't ask anything about your vehicle, and since I forgot to put the parking pass in the window for the five nights I was there and they didn 't tow my rental car, I am thinking this is just another way to make a buck. Not only that, but even though you pay to park in the dedicated Hilton lot there are signs everywhere saying that you park at your own risk and that they are not responsible for any damage or theft. You would think that if several hundred folks pay $10 $15 a night that they could afford to hire an outside security guard like the other Hilton 's. Ease of check in 3 I checked in, as always, on the Hilton app and then went to the desk for a hard key (the electronic keys are hit or miss at every hotel). There were two folks behind the counter but only one was helping guest while the other stood there. I came back the next morning to ask for a bottle of water (usually free to Gold and Diamond guest) and I was told that I could buy a bottle around the corner. When I asked if they were still free at check in the gentlemen asked my name and looked me up in the system before handing me my free $3 bottle. Lame. Room 3 Mixed feelings about this, the room itself was great, two separate living spaces with two big TV 's, pull out sofa, mini bar. Unfortunately as soon as I stepped in the room stank. I traced the smell to the bathroom and since I was beat after traveling I just showered and then kept the door closed hoping the smell would resolve itself. The smell remained for two days, went away for a day, then came back. Also, DO NOT get a room in the ground floor that opens up to the lobby area. They are loud and you can 't keep your blackout curtains open without everyone being able to look into your room. Also, the walls are super thin. Pretty sure the folks next door to me Friday night were filming a movie in their room....all night...complete with music. Also, the TV 's are a nice size but they are not smart TV 's so no Netflix for you. Finally, there are a lot of little things that could be done that you would expect at a Hilton, like a stopper on the sink drain, or paint on the baseboards, or again a smart TV with a fully functioning remote. Mattress/pillows 5 Super comfortable as always, great selection of pillows. Elevator speed/availability didn 't use so I can not rate. Gym/pool 5+ the BEST hotel gym I have ever seen, lots of cardio to include Pelatons, treadmills, versa climbers, and a legit stair climber and .....a Contour 2 rower! There are two rooms, one cardio as mentioned and one weights to include dumbbells, kettle bell, cable machine, and a SMITH MACHINE with free weights. Amazing, and never anyone else in the gym. Restaurant 3 I ordered fajitas one night due to being stuck in the hotel for work, expensive and NOT good. Taco Bell has better. The breakfast is really good and comprehensive, something for everyone with a specialty each day noted at the front desk. Staff 3 as noted, I could Have caught them on a bad day(s) but that was my experience. Price 4 Good and bad, the price I paid for the first three nights was typical for Hilton and the area, by the time I got to my fifth night the price went up almost $100 and my frustration level with the whole place was through the roof. Overall 3 I really wanted to like this Hilton but it didn 't happen this time. Because of the gym and proximity to where I needed to be I will give this place another chance next time I am in the area. I will NOT stay on the ground floor. Shout out the gym, amazing.
