People working there are nice. Just place your order and sit. They give you a buzzer that goes off when your order is ready. They havr a big fake mango tree inside. It's a cool setup ? definitely will go back again next time I'm in town. I had the mango smoothie and the creme brule. The creme brule had fruit on it and was amazing!
It's not worth the wait. The place has a nice theme, but it's not kept clean. We actually witnessed a couple of costumers cleaning the tables they were gonna use. The place didn't have a line when we arrived, but the wait for our order was around 45 minutes for 1 shaved ice and an order of cannoli. Once we finally got our order, the shaved ice had a nice presentation but lacked flavor, and the cannoli was very dry, had barely any cream(mainly on the edges nothing in the middle), and nothing like the description given on the menu.
The Taro Sago is a complete disaster the coconut milk was super salty and not smooth/cold at all, it tasted like they accidentally added a huge spoon of salt into it and not even aware of it…Also, the sago balls all agglomerated together, a sign of being left in the pot for a very long time and not being stirred well enough before serving. The food presentation was also very poor, giving us no appetite at all. Furthermore, a lot of items were not available when we arrived, which was another bummer. Overall, we had a very bad experience at this place, and was really surprised that this store got such a high rating on Google review…
This is very creative and nice dessert place. I got OMG and my friend got mango smoothie with coconut cream. They were both very good. I would like to come back to try more when I visit San Diego next time
The shaved ice treats here are something else. Very fancy and pretty in presentation and texture. I tried the mango flavor one, the lychee butterfly tea and the strawberry cheesecake one.I think the first two were my favorite, because the strawberry cheesecake one had a weird proportion of fruit/cheesecake bites, not enough fruit in my opinion. But it was still tasty and whenever I’ll feel like spending 15$ on a hot day, I will go back. For being Japanese shaved ice (kakigori), the shaved ice consistency felt different than the one I tried in Japan, it’s more silky smooth somehow. It almost feels like the ice is shaven differently. Maybe it’s just premium and I haven’t tried that!
