I got a bit tired of Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot a while back, but it's a great spot to check out when 1) the weather is chilly, 2) you’re looking for an affordable lunch, and 3) you have a craving for soup. Personally, I think the best time to go is for lunch when they offer a special for $9.95. Dinner can be quite pricey since most items must be ordered a la carte, and you also have to pay for the soup base. The $9.95 deal covers the soup, protein, vegetables, and noodles, which is pretty reasonable. So, my sister, V, and I decided to drop by for lunch the other day.
I've had Little Sheep Mongolian hot pot at home before, as the soup base mix is readily available at Asian grocery stores. However, I've always wanted to experience the restaurant itself to see if there are any differences. Recently, S and I went with some friends for a hot pot dinner.
The meat at this restaurant is definitely impressive. We tried the hotpot for two, with an all-you-can-eat option and a bottle of sake, which came to $100—not a bad deal at all. I highly recommend the half-and-half soup base. I primarily came for the meat, and it did not disappoint. They offer a student discount on Wednesdays if you're looking for a more affordable option. The other ingredients are also good, but it really depends on your personal tastes. The service is excellent; they bring all the food you want at once, and you can order more as needed. You can eat to your heart’s content—just be prepared to indulge!
Mongolian Hot Pot brings to mind an Asian version of fondue. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the food quality is excellent. I highly recommend trying the Angus Beef. However, I rated the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 due to some confusion regarding pricing. If one person in the group opts for the hot pot, everyone else must do the same, which was an issue for us since we had children who wanted to order à la carte. Despite this pricing confusion, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed some delicious food. Overall, I'd give it a 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend it!
