Panetteria - San Diego

The food was enjoyable, but the service left much to be desired. I waited 15 minutes at my table before the waiter finally came over to greet me and take my order. After that, I had to ask two different staff members for the check, as the waiter was nowhere to be found, and I waited another 25 minutes for it. I only recommend this place if you’re not in a hurry. On the bright side, the coffee is excellent, and the pastries are delicious.

We visited for some takeout dessert and were greeted by an impressive display of treats. I wish each item had a label for easy identification. We opted for the chocolate mousse cake and the white Napoleon. The mousse cake was light and airy, like a delicious chocolate cloud, while the Napoleon featured creamy filling nestled between crisp layers, delivering a satisfying experience. I can’t wait to come back and sample more of their offerings!

To start, we shared a plate of Insalata Di Polipo, a fantastic salad featuring artichokes, black olives, potatoes, and tender octopus. The Cioppino was also very good, packed with seafood, though I wish I had requested it to be spicier. My partner was in the mood for pesto and ordered the Fusilli Genoese. It was tasty, but he was hoping for a dish that was just pesto without the chicken or sundried tomatoes. Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert, but overall, it was a lovely dining experience.

Wonderful bakery. Finding real Italian in the predominantly Mexican realm was a luck. Another surprise: beer selection and its quality completely unexpected combination. Thin crust white pizza excellent. To summarize: we spent a wonderful hour there and wishing you the same. Buon appetito!

Solunto was open when we needed it for a late dinner, and the Italian food was delicious. The staff was very accommodating and polite even though we were there a little past closing. Would definitely go again!
