Rubio's Coastal Grill - San Diego

Food good, restaurant clean, service friendly, but the wait for food was a little longer than I expected. It took about 15 minutes for a California rice bowl (at 12:30pm on a Tuesday), and other customers seemed to be experiencing about the same wait for their orders. It could be that the kitchen was slower than usual this day, but maybe something to consider if looking for a place to grab lunch when you're in a hurry.

I like Rubio's food but the service (I've been ignored, my order messed, dirty tables) at this one has been lack luster to many times to get a 5 star rating

I was truly impressed by the food and service at this restaurant. The fish tacos, in all varieties, and the salads are outstanding, but the real highlights are the salsas—they're unbelievable. This is definitely a fantastic spot for Mexican-style fish tacos, with plenty of other options available as well. I also want to commend the service—it was exceptional. The staff pays close attention to detail, and they are quick and attentive. They genuinely go out of their way to assist in any way possible. The place is also very clean. I highly recommend it!

DINESTI not only took the time to explain each option available with our meals, but she also highlighted the differences among the three varieties of shrimp tacos, making our decision easier. We opted for the soft tortilla shells to avoid any oil grilling, and we included black beans, rice, cabbage, avocado, and mild salsa in our order. Before finalizing our transaction, DINESTI thoughtfully asked if we wanted anything to drink or for dessert. Her heartfelt attentiveness resembled the service you might expect at a fine dining restaurant, which was a delightful surprise for a casual eatery. I encourage you to check if DINESTI is working before you visit so you can not only enjoy their fantastic food but also experience the care and appreciation that she brings to her role as a truly exceptional manager. Definitely one of the better chains around. I preferred the simpler menu they offered in the past. Without a doubt, they have the best fish taco in San Diego—fresh quality fish in a soft taco. The rest of the menu is decent, but that's not why I visit. The service is always friendly and quick, and the restaurant is clean. I really enjoyed the large fish tank; I'm not sure why they removed it, though I imagine it was a maintenance hassle.
