San Diego Brewing Co

For a brewing company with little web presence, discreet location, and an unassuming facade, we were impressed with its interior and food. We ordered the Brewer's Plate, Fish Chips with the soup of the day (Clam Chowder) and a taste of all the House Beers. The Chowder was outstanding, not watery at all. I like my chowder chunky with potatoes vegetables and noticeably chew on the clams, and this Chowder did not fail me. My only complaint is that it tasted salty as I finished the cup. The Plate was remarkably delicious at a great value (less than $10). It was great balance of all the food groups: 2 types of hefty sausages, several slices of 3 types of cheese (smoked Gouda, peppered jack, cheddar), fresh fruit (slices of pineapple cantaloupe), and vegetables (carrot celery sticks) and a round of sourdough bread with a mildly sweet stone ground mustard. The Fish dish was okay. Two good-sized fillets with a crispy and light beer batter, just a little oily for my taste. Great steak fries. Coleslaw was flavorless. I wish I had ordered their Friday Fish Special: Blackened Tilapia with Tomato Salad. I saw someone eating it and it looked yummy. Since this was our first time there, we ordered 4 oz tasters of all of their home brew beer: IPA, Amber, Hefeweizen, Stout, Nut Brown Ale for less than $1 each. The IPA was our favorite: complex flavors, mild at first with a bitter finish. Next time we'll taste a few from the list of 37 other beers they had for less than $2 each. For lunch atmosphere, the background music was at a decent level, and we were able to hold our conversation without yelling at each other.

Great place with amazing beers on tap! The food is pretty darn good too. My only suggestion would be to bring back table service..,

Great food, great wings, Pizza is really good. Great dough recipe. And they've got Pliny on Tap.

Great family joint, good food, good beer. Bring some quarters and dollars for the pinball machines, arcade machine, and the virtual golf game if you want to give something for the kids to do.

I was excited to try this place with the family? pretzels were bricks and cheese was disgusting. Beef dip was dry and bread hard as a rock? no au jous in bag. Burgers were average? I will try one more time but was very disappointed on this first visit. Maybe next time we will try dining instead of take out.
