The pictures are very much “how it started vs how it ended .” Whenever my family I come here we get down on the seafood boils, the flavors are so yummy. I love the muscles here. My husband ordered an alcoholic drink that comes in a shark head type of cup no you don’t get to keep the cup. however the drink was really good. I can’t remember the name of the drink at this moment. Anyways it’s nice spot to come and enjoy some sea food. Parking lot is a good size too. Inside seating with tables and pull out chairs , no booths. It was clean inside yes I plan on returning.
Spent my birthday this year here (July 2) because crab is my favorite and I wanted crab from a place that had some of the flavors of where I come from (South Carolina). I love the casual small business vibes of a local seafood diner in the South. A lot of the seafood out here is the same flavor (no flavor) and doesn 't use the Cajun or Creole culinary style that Southern seafood joints do. I love my California and really wanted a taste of home in the place I now call home. This place did not disappoint! Was happy to see their menu had Cajun fries, fried okra, fried catfish, mussels, clams, crawfish, Cajun crab legs!! And more. But I order the crab legs with the 'house sauce ' that had my beloved Cajun flavor in. It was finger lickin good! Loved their version of Cajun! The okra was even better than the Cajun fries but boy was I happy to have some Cajun fries too. That okra had a perfect crust, perfect flavor, and the sauce was perfect too! The crab legs couldn 't have been any better unless maybe I ordered the King Crab but I was just as happy with the usual Snow Crab legs. Crab legs are crab legs! But I have gotten tired of San Diego restaurants that don 't offer some Cajun or Southern seafood vibes. The vibes in this place were so friendly. There was a regular in there enjoying their ghost pepper hot crab legs. I 'll definitely be going back too. The spice level we ordered was just a step below the hottest one. It was enough to enjoy the flavor with a kick good enough to open the sinuses a bit too. The fried catfish was great! Not something I 've seen in a lot of restaurants out here. Wayne was a terrific host. He checked on us regularly without being excessive. I appreciated his hospitality. He was very kind and professional. The kitchen crew did a spectacular job and made me want to eat there again! So happy we found this place! Very cute decor as well. The only thing that could’ve made it better is if I could’ve gotten a seafood boil that included the Cajun crab legs, mussels, clams, potatoes, corn, and shrimp!!
The boil was pretty good. I got the snow crab boil and chose to add all the flavors which was pretty tasty. Corn, potatoes, etc. must be ordered separately. All in all it was a good deal. Although the staff was nice, service was pretty slow. They seem to nickel and dime you for everything. I asked for cocktail sauce and there was a $0.50 fee but it seemed more like ketchup. I asked for more horseradish and was told that would be another $0.50 charge. Look at the difference. Horseradish was definitely needed!
Just finished my first meal at Shrimp Heads, and oh my goodness it is so good! We got the house deal and it is the perfect portion for the price, the house sauce was amazing, and all of the seafood tasted so fresh! Also tried the fried okra and calamari, awesome! Finally, the service was impeccable! Definitely will be coming here again and again.
Customer service was great. Food was good next time I'll get it spicier it was not spicy enough for me. Parking- you can miss the entrance its the first one if you go I'm the send entrance like I did parking sucks. But the parking for shrimp heads much better
