Filippi's Pizza Grotto Jamul

Best pizza in San Diego. This Jamul location is way better than all the other ones

I have been eating at Filippis for over 38 years. There Pies/Pastas are alway on point.

Ordered the meatball sandwich, sausage sandwich, the works pizza, spaghetti with meatball and cannoli. The marinara sauce was plain, no homemade flavor. The spaghetti was not al dente. Prego sauce from the grocery store tastes better. The meatball was mostly filling and not flavorful. The pizza dough had a strong yeast taste, too dense and tough. The cannoli was not to par, where the filling was gritty, more like cookie dough. The best thing there was the bread and butter they gave and the service was excellent. They do serve large portions.

Their add claims to have The best pizza ever or something along those lines. I asked my son how it was and he said top 5 for sure! Mind you he was born in Manhattan. We are also currently on the tail end of a one year, four corners of the United States, camping trip. So needless to say, we been around.It was magical in my mouth!
