Eventually, I grew tired of spending so much time waiting for the bus near the cable-car turnaround and then having to stand when the bus finally came, so I changed my BART-disembarkation station from Powell to Embarcadero in order to snag a prime seat on the 5-Fulton or 5R-Fulton Rapid, additional trip time and random chance to ride the 31-Balboa through the TL and see that one bowling alley and that one motel and wonder who used these places be damned.I'm not ashamed to admit that I've bought many pretzels from here, usually after a particularly annoying or stressful workday. The pretzels are always good. This should be a four-star review, but they're wildly inconsistent with their hours, or at least they were from around 2014 forward. Originally, the stand was always still in operation when I got here around 5:30 p.m. When my work schedule changed and I got here about an hour later, it was initially always open, but then sometimes they would be taking down the awning and/or dumping the ice upon my arrival. Some days, especially when it was already dark, the dumped ice would just be sitting on the sidewalk, even before six p.m. The following day, they'd still be slinging hotdogs after I'd waited a long time for the bus. I could never figure it out.I hope they're still around, even though I rarely visit Hallidie Plaza these days. (I don't think I've been since 2019).
This location does not exist. Walked all the way around.
We were walking through Golden Gate Park when we realized it was lunchtime. We “ Googled” places to eat in the park and were surprised by the very limited selection. There’s a cafe at one of the museums but that seemed like a schlepp and then we saw Annies Hot Dogs concession stand just below the Conservatory of Flowers. Was it a mirage? No, it was the real deal. While there were folks buying hot dogs and ice cream, we splurged on a few salted hot pretzels with a delicious cheddar cheese dip, along with a couple of bottles of water. I’ve been married for over thirty five years and I couldn’t recall having such a refreshing lunch with my long term girlfriend! It was actually a romantic lunch while sitting on a park bench under a blooming Magnolia tree.
Annie's Hot Dogs is a popular franchise hotdogs that we have seen them here and a couple in Golden Gate park as well. This one on Market Street next to the Cable Car station is very convenient location. There is always a crowd here. People from all walks of life ... shoppers, panhandlers, tourists, workers, street performers, some guy with a ghetto-blaster ...etc. It's quite a happening scene.
Love hot dogs? Grab on at Annie's. Dogs taste even better when you get to eat them in the park! Lots of choices, lots of toppings... Yum!
