We stopped by this restaurant after our Alcatraz tour, and wow, their shrimp po' boy was one of the best we've ever had outside of New Orleans! The service was quick, and the restaurant had a clean, open-air atmosphere. The restroom was also nice. It was a delightful surprise!
The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, yet full of energy. The chicken and vegetables were delicious and took about half an hour to prepare, but it was definitely worth the wait. I enjoyed hearing the guys playing an enthusiastic game of dominos. I opted for takeout and plated it beautifully at home.
I had never dined here before, and the menu primarily features seafood. I tried the fish and chips, which were quite tasty. You place your order and pay at the counter, and then they give you a stick with a number that indicates where to deliver your food. The service was excellent. However, I find it frustrating when the point-of-sale system prompts me for a tip before I've even received my meal. On a positive note, this location is conveniently close to the Alcatraz Tour arrival and departure point.
My husband and I traveled from North Dakota to San Francisco to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We booked a tour of Alcatraz and decided to have lunch at the cafe located on Pier 33, right next to the Alcatraz dock. I ordered the fish and chips along with a bread bowl of clam chowder, and I highly recommend both! We don't have fish and chips like this back in the north. If you're visiting from the Midwest, make sure to try the fish and chips here!
