I appreciated that they happily prepared my salad without meat. The beer bread was a fantastic side, and I really liked the house brew! The one I chose had a subtle caramel flavor and was quite sweet.
I frequently visit the Beach Chalet and its downstairs neighbor, the Park Chalet, with my friends. The main attraction isn’t the food or the service, but rather the ambiance. If you’re looking for a pleasant atmosphere, the Beach Chalet is a great choice. However, if you prioritize food quality and service, I recommend staying away! We've never been seated without having to retrieve our own menus. On one occasion, when we informed the general manager that we hadn’t seen our server for 20 minutes after being seated, he simply apologized and promised to get him for us. Another 15 minutes passed, and still no server! I have countless other similar stories to share. You’re really paying for the view rather than the food.
Having grown up by the beach, I always cherished the moments spent by a large picture window at dusk, enjoying a steaming bowl of soup or dessert alongside a warm cup of coffee. This restaurant offers a wonderful ambiance and delectable desserts!
The Beach Chalet offers stunning ocean views, but the Park Chalet located downstairs features a lovely garden patio where you can enjoy food and drinks with friends, children, and even pets. It's a popular spot for locals, drawing crowds on both sunny days and cooler, foggy ones. They serve excellent beer and offer a well-stocked bar, alongside tasty dishes like clam and garlic pizza, and an asparagus and smoked salmon salad. The staff is always friendly, and many are college students, which gives the place a youthful vibe. Park Chalet also hosts special events such as Taco Tuesdays, weekend outdoor BBQs, and a Recovery Brunch buffet on Sundays. Live music is available on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, adding to the festive atmosphere. It's delightful to see young children dancing with their parents. While we enjoy the ambiance more than the food itself, a visit to the Outer Sunset is definitely worthwhile.
